WOOD MESH CABINET
WOOD MESH CABINET

In the past when there were no refrigerators, food was stored in clay vessels, while bread, sugar and other foodstuff was stored in specially designed cabinets, known as fanari. The fanari was a wooden box with wire mesh on all four sides. It had a door on the front side and it was put in high places placed in the house so that rodents and insects could not reach it.
